The community at MAN v FAT Boston are back on the fundraising trail, with a double event coming up in the next few weeks.
Having helped Coningsby Helping Hands in 2024, the lads are back on the pitch on the 1st of June to support the LimbBo charity.
The tournament at the start of the month is the second part of a double header this year, having raised £550 at a match at Peterborough United’s stadium in early May.
Josh Dunworth from MAN v FAT Boston told us: “Most of our Charity work previously has come from someone within the club, who has approached myself or someone within the team asking if we can do something for ‘X’ charity.
“Obviously these events take great amount of organising so we usually plan ahead 2/3 months to give us some time, but for ‘The LimbBo Cup’ charity we were approached by one of our players better halves who works with a child who has Limb differences on a daily basis.
“We came together as group of 6/7 together to brain storm ideas. For this one, we’ve always had great numbers in the XIs scene, with two teams and comfortably get 30 players each week.
“With the recent expansion of the MAN v FAT Boston club to 8 teams, we wanted to push the clubs limits by getting 3 In-House XIs teams and wrap up our XIs scene for the seasons. As a result, we’re running a tournament which we’ve currently got 46 players currently for.”
The guys at MAN v FAT Boston will have fancy dress going on for each team, and a raffle during the day, football scratch cards as well a small tuck shop for refreshments and a local ice cream van coming along. Music will be provided by the Rock School Bus, with 10 members of various bands coming along to perform throughout the event.”
With a target of £2,500 (and a £960 total already confirmed this year), it cements a great culture at the club, where they’re giving back to their local community.
Josh added: “I believe it is massively important for this club to maintain our charity work whether that’s raising money for a charity or like previously we did a food collection for our local food bank and filled a floor of transit van.
“Whichever way we want to approach a charity, the Boston MAN v FAT club is always about giving back to our players and communities in one way or another and we want to always give as much back as we can.”
