MAN v FAT Soccer’s latest league launch will see us arrive in Bayonne in New Jersey.
Around 40 guys have already signed up and it looks set to be another incredible community to join Cherry Hill and Mount Laurel in the state.
Ahead of things getting underway, we caught up with coach Ilene Salmieri to find out more about her plans for our newest members.
What inspired you to get involved with MAN v FAT Soccer and support the men in your area?
I was inspired to get involved with MAN v FAT Soccer because I’ve seen first hand how powerful movement, community, and accountability can be in changing someone’s life.
What really stood out to me about this program is that it meets men exactly where they are — combining something they enjoy, like soccer, with structured support, encouragement, and real camaraderie. It’s not just about weight loss; it’s about confidence, mental wellbeing, and building a supportive environment where no one feels judged.
How would you describe your coaching and wellbeing style?
I focus on creating an environment where individuals feel safe, respected, and motivated — because real progress happens when people feel encouraged, not judged.
What kind of community are you hoping to build at your MAN v FAT league?
I’m hoping to build a community that feels like more than just a weekly game. I want it to feel like a support system — a community that helps people build healthier habits, stronger mindsets, and lasting friendships both on and off the pitch.
Why should men in the area consider joining this program?
Instead of trying to figure everything out alone, members become part of a group that shares similar goals, challenges, and experiences.
