Amazing Losers 2026: Adam Watts

With our Amazing Losers game on the horizon, we’re spending the days leading up to kick off meeting the lads who’ll be pulling on the shirts in this year’s game at Walsall FC. Let’s take another trip to Wales to meet Adam Watts from our Cardiff club!

Tell us more about your initial reasons for joining MAN v FAT

My main reasons for joining at the start was to get back into playing football after 15 years of not playing, and hopefully lose some weight along the way. I didn’t know back then the huge impact joining MAN v FAT would have on my whole life.

If you could go back in time and talk to the version of you at the start of your weight loss efforts, what would you tell them about the changes you’ve experienced?

MAN v FAT has given me my life back. A week before joining up I had hit rock bottom. Despite having an amazing wife and child, I just did not want to be around anymore. If I could go back I would tell myself to join up sooner. The impact MAN v FAT has had on my life is massive.

The weight loss is great, but along with that comes better mental heath, friends I have made for life, a community of other men that know and understand what you are going through. Joining is up there with one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Who would you like to thank for their help in your progress?

There are far too many to mention at Cardiff, and that really does say it all and is testament to how great our club is. I could list every guy past and present that has helped me in some way, but that wouldn’t be enough to thank them all and to show how much I appreciate them all. No matter how bad I may be feeling I always leave with a smile on my face. It’s an amazing club and I am so proud to be a part of it.

The biggest thank you has to go to my wife Rebecca, who has stood by me through the darkest of times. No words can really sum up what she means to me and I could never thank her enough for everything she has done for me. And also my daughter Emily. Having to try and keep up with her running around was a big factor in me wanting to lose all this weight! I was determined to be a healthy father that she could be proud of.

What are your future hopes around your health and wellbeing?

My hopes for the future are to keep the weight off and to be as fit and healthy as I can be. It’s a constant battle but it’s worth it. Keep doing the basics right day by day, and not to get too down on myself if I have a bad day. Don’t let one bad day turn into a bad week. Keep working on my mental heath as that is just as important as everything else. A healthy mind and body is always the goal.

How much are you looking forward to the game in May?

I can’t wait! Really looking forward to playing, but also meeting some other guys from other clubs and hearing about their stories and journeys.
