Having got underway in May, our MAN v FAT League in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania is approaching the halfway point of its first season.
The guys there have lost nearly 100lbs already under the watchful eye of coach Paul Levitin, who brings a wealth of experience to the group.
We caught up with him to find out how those early weeks have gone and his plans for the future of the league.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your professional background
I have been a personal trainer and nutrition coach since 2012, going on my 15th year! Helping people change their lives through their health and wellbeing is my calling.
You also run a podcast around behavior change – can you tell our readers more about that, how it came about and where they can find it to take a listen?
The podcast is called “Change Made Easy,” and it’s meant to help you make changing your habits, routines, and behaviors, well, EASY!
It came about from my work as a trainer and coach for many years, seeing what worked, and what really didn’t.
When it comes to making SUSTAINED change (which is the only kind that matters. I don’t care if someone loses a bunch of weight for the summer just to put it back on by Christmas), what I learned is that it’s not willpower, discipline, motivation, grit, any of these buzz-words, that really do the trick.
It’s making it easy. Making it feel good, making it something you actually WANT to do.
So on the podcast I speak with experts like therapists, authors, coaches, entrepreneurs, and anyone else who has good information to help make your journey just a little bit easier.

What inspired you to get involved with MAN v FAT Soccer and support the men in your area?
When I heard about MAN v FAT, it aligned perfectly with what I believe in. Losing weight is hard, that’s a fact. So how can we make it easy?
Maybe turn it into a game?
Have fun with it?
Surround you with other guys on the same journey?
Give you support on and off the field?
It just makes sense, and it was something I wanted to be invoved with!
How would you describe your coaching and wellbeing style?
I’d say I’m just very matter-of-fact. I will support you in your decisions, because at the end of the day, any change you make has to be your decision. I can’t do it for you. I won’t judge anyone who doesn’t want to or isn’t ready to change, but when you are ready, I’ll be there to help make it easier!
One where everyone can have fun, get healthy, and reach their goals. That’s a win win win!
Why should men in the area consider joining this program?
No man is an island. And a rising tide raises all ships. Meaning we can go much farther together than we can alone. When you make weight loss fun, you don’t have to think about weight loss, you think about playing a sport you love with your buddies, and weight loss just happens.
