Steve Fera, Independence Blue Cross (IBX) executive vice president, Public Affairs, and president, Government Markets, joined 6abc’s Ask the Pros for a conversation about the power of volunteering and how people can find meaningful ways to give back. The segment aired on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Fera encouraged viewers to start by thinking about the causes that matter most to them and the amount of time they have available, emphasizing that even an hour can make a difference. He also discussed the benefits volunteers can experience, including stronger connections to others and a greater sense of purpose and well-being.
During the conversation with 6abc news anchor Tamala Edwards, Fera highlighted the impact of IBX’s Blue Crew, which is celebrating 25 years of service across the Philadelphia region. As a recent example of the Blue Crew’s impact, he shared that 250 IBX associates came together at the company’s headquarters to pack 30,000 nutritious meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity through the Share Food Program.
Fera’s message for people wondering where to begin was simple: “Start with something that matters to you. Whatever the cause, there’s a place for volunteers to help.”
