I’m telling you, ever since we made these BEST ever Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos recipe, we’ve been dreaming about when we can make more. Think: crispy, crunchy fried shrimp that’s seasoned to perfection and mouthwateringly coated in incredible sweet chili & creamy mayo-based bang bang sauce, all nestled between fresh lettuce, beautiful cilantro, and thinly-sliced radishes all tucked into a wonderfully charred tortilla. Bang Bang Shrimp Taco Ingredients

  • 1 recipe Bang Bang Sauce – creamy, sweet, and just a hint spicy, this sauce is easy to make, in just 1 minute, similar to chipotle aioli!
  • Jumbo shrimp – get ones that have already been peeled and deveined for easier prep.
  • Breading – buttermilk, cornstarch, and Panko breadcrumbs create the perfect crispy coating that’s amazingly crunchy, just like in air fryer onion rings!
  • Seasonings – garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper
  • Tortillas – use taco-sized tortillas and warm them in the skillet or char over a gas flame.
  • Oil
  • Taco Fixins’ – shredded lettuce, radishes, fresh limes, and cilantro can all be swapped with your favorite add-ins!

How to Make Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

  1. Make the sauce: follow this recipe for Bang Bang Sauce. Simply whisk together ingredients, cover, and refrigerate until needed.
  2. Fry the Shrimp: Dredge shrimp in buttermilk, then cornstarch, back into the buttermilk, and finally into a mixture of breadcrumbs and seasonings. Deep fry shrimp.
  3. Make the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos: Toss fried shrimp with bang bang sauce. Warm tortillas and lay flat on serving plates. Add lettuce, shrimp, radish, lime, and cilantro. Serve and enjoy!

What to Serve with Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

Make the Bang Bang Sauce

  • Make 1 batch of Bang Bang Sauce. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until needed.

Fry the Shrimp

  • Add buttermilk to a shallow bowl. Add cornstarch to a second shallow bowl. In third, large bowl, stir together Panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.**

  • One shrimp at a time, dip in buttermilk, then dredge in cornstarch, dip back into buttermilk, and finally dredge in Panko mixture, squeezing to seal in the breadcrumb coating.

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or a little over 1 inch of oil in a deep pan to 350°F. Deep fry shrimp for 2-4 minutes, until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to catch excess oil.

How to Make Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

  • In a large bowl, toss together bang bang sauce and crispy shrimp until well coated. Set aside.

  • Warm tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side in a medium-high heat skillet or char over a gas flame.

  • Place warmed tortillas on a plate, adding lettuce, 2-4 crispy shrimp in each, and topping with radishes, a squeeze of lime, and cilantro. Enjoy!
