Snippets of life lately!
Hey hey!
The beginning and end of the school year are always hustle seasons for me. (Also the beginning of the holiday season and the start of the new year!) I’m working ahead to take some time off for summer travel, and preparing for less-predictable days when the boys get out of school in two weeks. They will be doing some summer camps, but we’re also traveling for most of June (Europe and Bald Head!) and we have a week of them being home and playing “school’s out for the summer” on repeat.
Mother’s Day
How it started:
A very happy waffle breakfast with Thomas’s parents and Aunt Layton!

Thanks to Thomas and his dad for making yummy waffles and treating all the women to breakfast.

I got some sweet cards from the boys (“Mom, I love to kudle and snugel with you, Love Birch”) and a pedicure gift certificate!

I got to spend the day playing with the women’s soccer league, which was a lot of fun!
And this is how MD ended, the best way! He fell asleep like this.

Layton brought her dog, Roan, to visit. Gus was not as happy as he looks here, but they got along fine! He gives off “I’m too old for this puppy energy” vibes. Roan is so sweet and playful!

Thomas also cooked us BBQ chicken with special breaded baked potato slices and asparagus for dinner!

Isle Of Hunger
Last weekend’s happenings also included the book launch of my creative friend Sean Cameron Dalton!

Isle of Hunger is Sean’s debut novel! I’d describe it an “Island Thriller.” It’s beautifully written and a bit of a “what is going on” page turner! If you are a fan of darker tales, please consider ordering a copy!

From the back cover:
Isle of Hunger is the dark tale of two strangers who find themselves on the island of Celstock. One vacationing with friends, the other with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Brought together by the allure of buried treasure, they soon learn what each is willing to do to gain what they desire…
If you’d like to support a young author, you can order a copy here!

Sean had a book launch party last Saturday and gave out signed preorder copies to many of his friends and family. He served island punch, rum fudge, and Pirate’s Booty! The book also has a musical score, much like a movie would, so you can feel the vibe as you read. It will be released soon wherever music is streamed!

Congrats, friend!

Games + Arts
All the island talk got Birch and I in the mood to do his wooden puzzle again! This is the most satisfying type of puzzle!

I also just spontaneously bought this Exploding Kittens adjacent Survivor game. Cannot wait to play!

And we went to see Chicago at Monticello High School. The show was fantastic!!! We’re going to see Shrek the Musical this weekend.

End of Season
This little guy is wrapping up kindergarten! He was awarded a confidence award in his class for coming out of his shell this year. We are very proud! We are also very proud of our 6th grader who has gotten great grades and had a good year overall. He just isn’t into photos much anymore now that he’s going on 13 😉

Parents were invited to a writing day at the school:

My cautious child is slowly learning more wheels. He’s gotten better on the scooter and is even starting bike practice. We have an old balance bike, but Thomas is looking into getting him one that fits his size.

Both boys are still nuts for Legos. This one was a gift from cousin Michael! They both have their eyes on all the Harry Potter themed Legos out there for this summer. Mazen is reading book 5!

Oliveda
LOVING my lineup of Oliveda products! I had a friend over who was interested in signing up and she tried everything (If you are local and would like to come feel and smell too, you can! Reach out!).

I also was on a call about Beautycounter’s return to the clean beauty space. The new company will be called Counter(beauty) and will feature many of the best sellers and favorites, but will also have a very different vibe. I do plan to partner with them again, so I’ll share more when I know more.
Cumbre
Post-workout walk to Cumbre on a sunny day! Deeeelish!

Kath Eats Real Food
And lastly, some recent eats!

Hope you all have a great weekend <3
