This easy berry tart needs only 5 ingredients and takes 10 minutes to prepare for the oven. It has a crisp, buttery puff pastry crust covered with strawberry jam and sugar-coated berries.

Quick, No-Roll Puff Pastry
Making this quick berry tart with ready-to-use puff pastry from the freezer aisle is the best hack. I use the same method to make my savory spinach and feta puff tart and asparagus tart recipes. It’s perfect when I need a brunch dish or dessert in a hurry.

Only 5 Ingredients

- Puff Pastry: Pick up your favorite frozen or refrigerated puff pastry. If it’s frozen, thaw it. Cut the pastry in half.
- Fresh Berries: I use a mix of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, or blueberries. You can use any type of berry or just one.
- Sugar: Tossing the fresh berries with sugar encourages them to release their juices. White or light brown sugar is best.
- Strawberry Jam: I love using homemade strawberry jam when I have it canned in the pantry. It’s my grandmother’s recipe, and it’s truly the best. Your favorite store-bought jam will do the trick, too.
- Powdered Sugar: To dust over the berry tart once it’s cooled.
Can I Use Frozen Berries?
Yes, but with one important extra step: You’ll need to thaw the mixed berries completely and drain any excess juices. I’d even go so far as to dab the drained berries with paper towels to dry them a bit. If the berries are very wet, they’ll make the pastry crust soggy.
I’d also suggest skipping the macerating step (where you toss the berries with sugar and let them sit). Instead, stir the sugar into the berries just before adding them to the tart.

How to Make This Easy Berry Tart
You won’t be rolling out the dough. You’ll assemble this berry tart like a homemade pizza: Crust, jam, and juicy berries on top. This is the type of easy treat I’ll throw in the oven before my mother arrives for a quick, 3-hour visit over mimosas.

- Get ready to bake. Start by preheating your oven to 400ºF. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Macerate the berries. Stir the mixed berries with sugar in a bowl. Let that sit and break down for about 5 minutes.
- Prepare the pastry. Next, place the puff pastry onto the lined baking sheet. Slice the pastry in half. Spread a couple of spoonfuls of strawberry jam down the middle of each half.
- Assemble. Divide the berries between the two pastry sheets, arranging them down the middle on top of the jam.
- Bake. Bake this berry tart in a hot 400ºF oven for 18-20 minutes, until the crust is golden and the berries are bubbling. After the tart has cooled completely, dust the top with powdered sugar, and enjoy.
Fix an Uneven Pastry
Sometimes, one side of the pastry puffs up more than the other. In this case, I’ll prick the puffed-up pastry with a fork to deflate it. Easy!
On the subject of imperfection… The jam may leak over the sides of the puff pastry while the tarts bake, as you can see in the photo, and that’s fine. You won’t even notice once you’ve moved the berry tarts to a serving plate.

Can I Store This Tart?
This berry tart is best served right away. That being said, you can store the baked berry tart in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. I recommend taking it out ahead of serving so it comes to room temperature again. The puff pastry will lose its crispness with time.
