What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My biggest motivation was reclaiming my life. I was tired of feeling limited by my weight, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. What kept me going, especially during the hardest times, was remembering my “why”: I wanted to live fully, love myself deeply, and be healthy for my future. I leaned on faith, progress over perfection, and reminded myself that setbacks don’t mean failure.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey nine years ago when I had bariatric weight loss surgery. I was a tool, not a fix. The real transformation came through changing my mindset, habits, and committing to lifelong wellness.
My transformation is ongoing. This isn’t just about weight. It’s about mental, emotional, and physical healing that continues every day.
How did you change your eating habits?
After surgery, I became more intentional about portion control and nutrition. I cut back on high-sugar and high-carb foods and focused more on lean protein, vegetables, and whole grains. I didn’t follow a rigid diet plan, but I did stick to a bariatric-friendly lifestyle: small meals, high protein, and staying hydrated. I still enjoy the occasional glass of wine or a meal outside my plan, but it’s all about balance and discipline.
What is your workout routine?
My routine includes a mix of cardio and strength training. I also enjoy fitness classes that keep me engaged, like line dancing and HIIT workouts. Movement became a form of self-love rather than a form of punishment.
How often did you work out?
I consistently work out four days a week. It’s part of my lifestyle now, not just a task on a to-do list.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 466 pounds. I’ve lost over 246 lbs, regained some, and lost again. It’s been a journey of ups and downs, but overall, a transformation I’m proud of.
What is your height?
I’m 6’0”.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Be kind to yourself. This journey requires patience, grace, and consistency. The scale doesn’t define your success. How you feel, the confidence you gain, and how you show up for yourself matter most.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Start with self-love. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Trust the process, be honest about your habits, and know that healing is not just about pounds lost. It’s about what you gain in confidence, joy, and strength. Progress, not perfection.
