Ingredients You’ll Need

Ingredients to make grilled lobster tail including fresh lobster tails, some preserved lemons, some butter, fresh herbs, some olive oil, salt and pepper

  • Lobster Tails. Fresh or frozen and thawed lobster tails work well. Make sure the lobster tails are cleaned.
  • Butter. We use unsalted butter at room temperature to control the amount of salt.
  • Herbs. A blend of fresh parsley, fresh oregano, thyme, chives or your favorite herbs.
  • Lemon. While lemon zest, fresh lemon juice are phenomenally TASTY with lobster and all seafood. We have found our secret ingredient to be preserved lemons. SO GOOD and so rich!
  • Seasoning. Salt and fresh black pepper are a must, we also add some chilli flakes.
  • Olive Oil. Even though we drizzle the grilled lobster with butter, we also use olive oil for grilling and seasoning.

How to Grill Lobster

Prep the Lobster Tails

  1. Thaw frozen lobster tails overnight in the fridge if needed.
  2. Pat dry with paper towels.

  3. Using sharp kitchen shears or knife, cut down the lobster tail lengthwise to split in half.

  4. Season the lobster on both sides with a simple salt and black pepper. Drizzle with lots of olive oil and rub that into the lobster meat and shell on all sides.

Make Garlic Butter

In a small bowl, mix soft butter, preserved lemon, parsley and herbs, salt, pepper and chilli flakes.

Preheat the Grill

Grill the Lobster Tails

  1. Place lobster tails flesh-side down on the preheated grill over direct heat for 4-5 minutes for good grill marks.

  2. Flip them shell-side down, place the lid for the lobster to cook.
  3. You’ll notice the lobster will be curling up, similar to shrimp.
  4. After 4-5 more minutes, flip them again and continue cooking.

Serve Grilled Lobster Tails

  1. Serve immediately and brush or drizzle melted butter over over the lobster.
  2. Keep some lemon wedges and extra of the butter mixture on the side.
