MAN v FAT Bath spread the word

MAN v FAT Bath coach Chris Gannon attended a health and wellbeing event in mid-October to spread the word on the weight loss club in the area, ahead of an exciting 2026.

MAN v FAT Bath is delivered in partnership with Bath City Foundation and Chris, whose day job is Head of Wellbeing and Communications at the Foundation, has supported a host of local men to improve their health on the programme.

Speaking about the event, which was held on October 11th, Chris said: “The event was put together by the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (NHS) and organisations including Bath MIND, Bath City Farm, Pathways To Wellbeing, Wellbeing Courses (Bath and North East Somerset), Soundwell, Banes Parent Carer Forum and ourselves at Bath City FC Foundation.

“It was free to attend and there will be a variety of workshops and seminars, all with a focus on mental health and wellbeing, with this year’s theme being accessing services.”

MAN v FAT is proud of the support it gives men when it comes to mental health and wellbeing. That takes place online, with our MAN v FAT x JAAQ mental health platform, but also in the support and camaraderie shown at sessions.

Chris added: “I believe our league has created an environment rich in peer support, and that has led to an openness in discussing mental health and wellbeing. This has been shown in participants reengaging and some incredible individual weight loss achievements.

“The reintroduction of the 11s team brought everyone closer together and reduced the competitive edge so that the games are played in the spirit of MAN v FAT. The diverse age range and alternative life experiences that come with that, bring benefit and value to all those involved.”

After a positive 2025, 2026 looks like it could be even better for the Bath lads with an upcoming venue switch on the cards and a new place to call home.

“We’ve recently secured a high quality year-round venue, which the league has been seeking since it started. This would hopefully enable us to grow the league,” Chris concluded.
