The Maple BBQ Cheeseburger:
The Maple BBQ Cheeseburger is a 1/3 pound burger, brushed with a combination of maple syrup, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried thyme, sea salt (<—my favorite!) and pepper. After prepping, these juicy burgers are grilled to perfection and smothered in cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce. Swoon!
The BBQ Sauce:
You can use your favorite BBQ sauce or…if you are feeling like a weekend warrior you can make my Red Wine BBQ Sauce, it’s easy!
The Toppings:
Of course you can top this fabulous burger anyway you wish, I use lettuce, tomato, red onion and sometimes avocado. When it all comes together, it’s magic!

Use a knife to divide one pound ground beef into three equal portions. Take each portion, form into a ball, place on a plate and smash flat using your palm. You want the burgers about 3/4 inch thick.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup and all seasonings. Brush onto both side or burgers.

When grill is ready, place burgers on grill, close lid, cook each side for 3-4 minutes for medium. Move burgers to upper level of grill, add cheese and close lid for 60 seconds to melt cheese

While burgers cook, prepare lettuce, tomato and onion slices.
-
Remove burgers from grill. Place lettuce on the bottom half of bun, add burger. Pour BBQ sauce on top of burger, add toppings. Serve!
