Muffins are one of the great gateways to baking. Even people who don’t fancy themselves bakers are inclined to tackle a muffin recipe now and then. These are some long-time favorites – well worth making, and very worth eating. Many of them freeze well, making them candidates for baking ahead.A couple tips: don’t overmix the batter, or you’ll end up with tough muffins. And don’t be afraid to experiment with seasonal fruits, or swap in different nuts and seeds.

Muffin Making Tips
There are a few tips to share related to baking muffins.Â
- Don’t over mix your batter. In general, you want to fold ingredients together just until there are no dry ingredients visible. This helps keep muffins tender.
- Vintage muffin pans are the best! I love looking for them at yard sales, flea markets and antique shops.
- Baking papers are fun to experiment as well. Some are classic and cupcake style, others are straight-sided and French. Keep your eyes open for interesting baking papers to bake and serve your muffins in.
