Here’s a bit of life lately!
The soulless swinging lady is back!
Have you ever wondered why October is the 10th month and not the 8th? This literally just came to mind as I was brainstorming a title for this lately post! Maybe in an older calendar it was 8?
*Googles this*
OK I was right! Per Google, it was the 8th in an older calendar:
October is not the eighth month because the original Roman calendar had a 10-month year starting in March, making October the eighth month. When the calendar was reformed to include January and February, these two new months were added at the beginning of the year, shifting the subsequent months and resulting in October becoming the tenth month, while still retaining its numerical name.
I also have Octo- on the mind because I finished Remarkably Bright Creatures and loved it! Going inside the mind of an octopus was so fun. I feel like this book has to have a sequel!
Speaking of remarkable creatures, here’s the latest progress on the Halloween costume! He’s on drywall stilts and has covered crutches in foam. Next up: spray paint and “creepy cloth” on top. Plus his mask!

And slimy creatures…Mazen and Thomas’s latest fishing trip! A big boy!

Birch has been all about Halloween decor, and we’ve been going on nightly walks to check for new additions.

Gus appreciates all the extra walks!

We are also so proud of B for getting a confidence award at school! He has come a long way since he was so shy in his 2s and 3s <3

Survivor Dinner
Ellen and I have been watching Survivor every week (and Hilary when she can join us!) Two weeks ago I took over salmon, potatoes, and asparagus and made a Blue Apron Cajun Brown Sugar salmon recipe I had made before. So good!

Up On The Roof
The following week, Ellen The Influencer invited me to join her at an event on the Doyle Hotel rooftop.

The roof has been taken over by a brand called Up On The Roof, and it was merry as ever! We had a blast enjoying batch cocktails and eating those amazing deviled eggs!

Clean Juice
Another about-town spot I hit up was Clean Juice! Loving their healthy lunch options (They are located in the Costco vicinity – in the strip in front of it).

Organic toasts, sandwiches and smoothies!

Avocado Toast with Egg + Salad at Cumbre at Dairy Market.

Tilman’s Turkey Sandwich with Brie and Arugula salad

And around the house:
Homemade ham and spinach quiche

Pizza night!

Mona Lisa Lasagna + salad

And in not-so-healthy news, the Afterglow from Bang (lemongrass + bourbon) is still one of the best cocktails in town!
