The start of 2026 saw MAN v FAT Soccer head to New Jersey with the launch of two new leagues – and a third to follow soon.
Cherry Hill was one of those new locations and the guys in the league have got off to a really positive start – shedding nearly 300lbs of weight in the first half of their first season.
The men there are supported by Rebecca Benrubi, and we caught up with her to get the lowdown on her time with MAN v FAT so far.

What inspired you to get involved with MAN v FAT Soccer and support the men in your area?
I’ve been a fitness coach for over five years, working with individuals of all ages and fitness levels. As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass, bone density, and balance. I love helping people become stronger versions of themselves so they can continue living active, fulfilling lives.
Soccer has been a big part of my family since my children were young, and I’ve spent countless hours on the sidelines supporting them.
When I discovered MAN v FAT, I was intrigued by this innovative approach to fitness. It provides men with a chance to return to the game they love – or finally try it for the first time – while setting meaningful goals that lead to real, rewarding outcomes.
How would you describe your coaching and wellbeing style?
My coaching and wellbeing style is always supportive, inclusive, and informative. I make sure the community I work with understands why we do each exercise and how it benefits them. I recognize that everyone is at a different point in their fitness journey and tailor my guidance accordingly. I’m committed to being there for every step, providing encouragement, education, and accountability.

Currently, we have 36 men across four teams in the Cherry Hill league, and the community that has formed is exactly what I hoped to create. From day one, the players have been inclusive, helpful, and supportive of one another, and they’ve welcomed me wholeheartedly.
My favorite part of each evening is seeing the teams come off the pitch – laughing, joking, and praising each other for a game well played. That camaraderie is truly what I look forward to the most.
Why should men in the area consider joining this program?
Men in the South Jersey area should consider this innovative approach to weight loss and fitness. Not only does it work, but it also offers the chance to be part of a supportive community where accountability and fun go hand-in-hand. One night a week, these men build friendships, release the stress of the week, and leave feeling accomplished, both on and off the pitch.
