Review: Singapore Airlines A350 Business Class (Brussels to Singapore)

Flying Business Class on Singapore Airlines is widely considered a benchmark for luxury air travel, and my recent journey from Brussels to Singapore on the carrier’s Airbus A350-900 reaffirmed exactly why the airline remains an industry icon. Known globally for its polished service, sophisticated design, and award-winning culinary program, Singapore Airlines continues to set standards that few carriers come close to matching. From the moment passengers enter a Singapore Airlines aircraft, they are welcomed by the airline’s signature warm hospitality—complete with the iconic sarong kebaya uniform—and an atmosphere designed to soothe, pamper, and impress.

This long-haul flight from Brussels to Singapore delivered comfort, personalized service, and a level of sophistication that made the nearly 12-hour journey feel remarkably seamless. In this review, I take an in-depth look at my Business Class experience onboard the Singapore Airlines A350, with particular attention to the cabin layout, seat functionality (including its pros and cons), inflight dining, amenities, and the KrisWorld entertainment system.

Have you ever flown in Singapore Airlines’ Business Class? If so, what was your experience? Leave a comment.

1. Airport Lounge

Although Singapore Airlines does not operate a proprietary lounge at Brussels Airport, its Business Class guests are invited to use The View Lounge, an outstanding third-party space that I have reviewed comprehensively here.

2. Singapore Airlines’ A350 Fleet

The Airbus A350-900 is one of the flagship aircraft in Singapore Airlines’ long-haul fleet and represents one of the most advanced commercial airplanes flying today. With 65 A350 aircraft in its fleet as of late 2025, Singapore Airlines is the world’s largest operator of the Airbus A350, a reflection of the airline’s strategic investment in fuel-efficient, passenger-centric aircraft that offer superior comfort on long-distance routes.

Constructed from more than seventy percent lightweight composite materials, the A350 delivers remarkable fuel efficiency while maintaining exceptional structural strength and durability. Its Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines are among the quietest in commercial service, allowing the cabin to remain noticeably serene throughout the flight. The aircraft also benefits from a lower cabin altitude, higher humidity, and faster air-refresh cycles, all of which help reduce fatigue on ultra-long-haul journeys.

Singapore Airlines’ long-haul A350-900 configuration used on the Brussels–Singapore route includes 253 seats across three cabins, with 42 of those in Business Class. The carrier also operates the A350-900ULR (Ultra Long Range) variant, an aircraft capable of flying some of the world’s longest commercial routes, including non-stop flights between Singapore and New York.

3. Business Class Cabin

The Business Class cabin on Singapore Airlines’ Airbus A350-900 is arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration that guarantees direct aisle access for every passenger. The cabin contains 42 forward-facing seats in total, divided between a larger forward cabin with 26 seats and a more intimate rear cabin with 16 seats. The separation into two sections helps reduce foot traffic and noise, and many travelers prefer the smaller rear cabin because it feels more exclusive and serene. All seats along the windows are single seats, while the seats in the middle are paired. However, the two center seats feature a partition screen that can be raised for added privacy.

The airline entrusted the cabin’s interior design to James Park Associates, the studio behind the legendary interiors of the Orient Express. The result is a warm, elegant environment featuring a palette of bronze, beige, and chocolate-brown tones, complemented by hand-stitched leather surfaces and thoughtfully positioned accent lighting. Plush checked throw pillows add a refined visual contrast to the dark leather seats, enhancing the residential feel of the space. The absence of overhead bins above the center seats allows the ceiling to rise significantly higher, giving the entire cabin a bright, loft-like ambiance. Combined with the quietness of the A350’s engines, the space feels restful, polished, and distinctly premium.

4. Business Class Seat (+ Best & Worst Seats)

The Singapore Airlines A350 Business Class seat is one of the widest seats available in any Business Class cabin today. Measuring approximately 28 inches (71 cm) in width, the seat offers exceptional space for work, relaxation, and sleep. The seat pitch is approximately 60 inches (152 cm), and when converted into a fully flat bed it stretches to 78 inches (198 cm), creating a generous sleeping surface that accommodates most travelers comfortably.

The seat is upholstered in high-quality Scottish leather and features substantial padding that remains comfortable throughout long flights. Privacy is excellent at every seat, even though Singapore Airlines introduced this product long before privacy doors became standard in premium cabins. The tall seat shell wraps around the passenger to create a cocoon-like sense of seclusion, especially at the window seats, which angle gently toward the fuselage. In the center section, a retractable privacy divider can be raised to separate the two middle seats, allowing solo travelers to shut themselves off completely or enabling couples to converse comfortably when the divider is lowered.

Each seat features a large 18-inch (45 cm) high-definition LCD screen, positioned directly ahead of the passenger for an optimal viewing experience. Beneath the screen sits the ottoman, which not only serves as a comfortable footrest during the flight but also becomes the end of the bed when the seat is in its fully flat position. The bulkhead seats in rows 11 and 19 feature full-width ottomans, offering significantly more space, while in all other seats the footrest is a narrower, angled cubby located on the side under the seat in front.

The seat’s lighting and control features are thoughtfully arranged. A panel with reading lights is positioned at eye level on the side of the seat shell, providing soft, focused illumination that can be directed precisely without disturbing other passengers. Beneath this is the seat-control panel, built into the aisle-side armrest. This panel allows travelers to adjust the recline, select preset lounging positions, and fine-tune comfort with ease. The controls operate smoothly and include the ergonomic “Lazy-Z” recline as well as the relaxed “Sundeck” mode, both of which are excellent for relaxing or watching movies.

Storage options are among the best of any Business Class configuration. A large side console easily holds laptops or tablets, while several smaller compartments—including a mirrored cubby next to the screen and a box built into the side table—can store personal items such as glasses, phones, books, or wallets. Two additional pockets near the entertainment screen provide convenient spaces for small essentials during the flight, although these particular pockets are absent at the bulkhead seats. A full-sized tray table extends smoothly from the side console and is suitable for dining or working. A coat hook beside the entertainment screen ensures jackets remain neatly stored and wrinkle-free throughout the flight.

When it is time to sleep, the seat converts into a fully flat bed using Singapore Airlines’ distinctive flip-down mechanism. The backrest folds forward to reveal a dedicated, mattress-like sleeping surface. Although passengers must briefly stand during this conversion, the crew is always happy to prepare the bed on request. During my own flight—due to an unusually low load in the cabin—I was able to use one seat for relaxing and the adjacent seat for sleeping, which created a level of comfort comparable to a First Class experience.

For the most comfortable sleeping experience, the bulkhead seats—located in rows 11 and 19—are unquestionably the best in the cabin; these seats feature a full-width rectangular ottoman, allowing passengers to stretch their legs fully and sleep straight rather than at an angle. Passengers in the other seats must sleep at a slight diagonal because the standard footwell tapers toward the end; this arrangement works well for most travelers, particularly those who sleep on their backs, but side sleepers or those who prefer to stretch out straight may find the angled foot space somewhat restrictive.

Overall, the Singapore Airlines A350 Business Class seat excels in comfort, privacy, and space, but as already briefly mentioned in this review, it does have a few drawbacks. The most significant limitation is the angled sleeping position required in the non-bulkhead seats. Another inconvenience is the flip-down bed mechanism, which prevents passengers from adjusting the seat between lounging and sleeping positions on their own once the bed is prepared. Instead, the seat must be completely converted each time, and passengers need to stand up during the process, making the transition less flexible than fully reclining seats found on some competing airlines. Finally, the sleeping surface—though long—is somewhat firm. A thicker mattress topper would significantly enhance comfort and align the bedding experience with the excellence of the rest of the product.

What are the best Business Class seats on Singapore Airlines’ A350?

  • Window seats are the ideal choice for solo travelers, as they offer enhanced privacy and a more cocooned experience. Travel companions, on the other hand, will find the center seats most suitable, thanks to their side-by-side layout and adjustable privacy divider.
  • The bulkhead seats in rows 11 and 19 are by far the most desirable in the cabin because they feature a full-width ottoman rather than the standard tapered footwell, providing significantly more space and a much more comfortable sleeping position.
  • Passengers may also wish to consider rows 19 to 22, which are located in the smaller, more intimate rear Business Class cabin. This secluded mini-cabin feels noticeably quieter and more private, making it a highly recommended choice for a more tranquil long-haul experience.

What are the worst Business Class seats on Singapore Airlines’ A350?

  • It is best to avoid the window seats in row 17 and the center seats in row 18, as both are positioned close to the galley and lavatories, which can result in increased noise and foot traffic during the flight.
  • Row 22 is also worth avoiding because it is located directly in front of the Premium Economy bassinet area, which means there is a higher likelihood of being seated near young children.

5. Amenities & Bedding

Singapore Airlines does not routinely provide full amenity kits in Business Class; instead, a curated selection of comfort items is placed at each seat. Passengers receive slippers, socks, and an eyeshade, along with a soft pillow and duvet to enhance comfort during the flight and ensure a restful sleep. High-quality noise-cancelling headphones are also provided, allowing travelers to block out cabin noise and fully enjoy the KrisWorld entertainment system. In addition, the lavatories are well stocked with razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotions, and premium toiletries from Payot, ensuring passengers have access to everything they may need during the journey.

On request, Sinagpore Airlines’ Business Class passengers on long-haul flights may receive a Le Labo amenity kit, presented in an elegant dark grey pouch. Inside, the kit includes travel-sized Le Labo skincare essentials such as hydrating face mist, hand pomade, and lip balm. Le Labo is an artisanal New York–based fragrance house known for its cult-favorite scents, minimalist aesthetic, and luxurious formulations, adding an extra layer of indulgence to the onboard experience.

Adding a touch of charm and whimsy, Singapore Airlines also offers its iconic SIA teddy bear. This soft, collectible bear is typically given to children, but when supplies permit, cabin crew are often delighted to offer one to adults as well – especially to those who ask politely. Produced in limited editions and sometimes dressed in seasonal or themed outfits, these bears have become cherished keepsakes for collectors and travelers who enjoy taking home a memorable piece of the Singapore Airlines experience.

6. Meals

Singapore Airlines is renowned for its exceptional inflight dining, and the culinary experience in Business Class reflects the airline’s longstanding commitment to quality and innovation. The menus are developed in collaboration with the Singapore Airlines International Culinary Panel, a team of celebrated chefs—many of whom helm Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. Their influence is evident in the creativity, balance, and presentation of each dish, giving the inflight experience a level of sophistication that far exceeds typical airline catering.

On many long-haul routes, Business Class passengers can take advantage of Book the Cook, Singapore Airlines’ signature preorder service that allows travelers to select their main course from an extensive menu of gourmet options at least 24 hours before departure. The selection ranges from Singaporean classics like laksa and chicken rice to Western dishes, healthy choices, and chef-designed specialties. While I did not select the Book option on my Brussels–Singapore flight, it remains one of the airline’s most distinctive service features and a favorite among frequent flyers.

Even without Book the Cook, the onboard dining experience was excellent. The meal service began shortly after takeoff with Singapore Airlines’ iconic chicken satay—perfectly grilled and served with warm peanut sauce, cucumber, and onion. This signature starter alone sets Singapore Airlines apart, and it remains one of the most recognizable dishes in the skies. Next, I choose the following selection from the lunch menu:

  • Starter: Vitello Tonnato (thinly sliced veal), with creamy tuna sauce, capers, tomato, caviars and snow pea tendril.
  • Main course: classic beef stew in beer sauce, buttered Brussels sprouts, carrots, shallot and roasted grenaille potatoes.
  • Dessert: Oreo ice cream, raspberry bavarois, and a selection of sliced fresh fruits.

Presentation, flavor, and quality were consistently strong across all courses.

Throughout the 12-hour flight, snacks were on display in the galley and passengers could order additional dishes from the menu. I opted for the vegetarian rice noodles with lettuce, Chinese greens, and black mushrooms—a hearty, comforting mid-flight option that was both flavorful and satisfying. Breakfast was served about 90 minutes before landing and featured a generous selection of fresh fruits, flavored yogurt, cereal, and Bircher muesli. For the main course, I chose poffertjes (Dutch mini fluffy pancakes), served with pineapple compote, strawberry, and butter. The dish was good, though slightly on the dry side.

7. Entertainment

Singapore Airlines’ inflight entertainment system – called KrisWorld – is one of the most extensive in the aviation industry and provides passengers with a vast catalogue of films, television series, documentaries, music, and games. The large high-definition screen delivers excellent image quality, though it is controlled entirely through the handheld device located beside the seat, as the screen itself is not touch-responsive. The handset for the KrisWorld inflight entertainment system is located in a recessed compartment above the side table; this placement keeps the handset within easy reach but tucked away when not needed.

KrisWorld offers an impressive catalogue of content, with over a thousand options spanning Hollywood blockbusters, international films, complete TV series, documentaries, live news, music albums, curated playlists, podcasts, and interactive games. The selection is frequently updated and tailored to a global audience, ensuring that passengers of all tastes and ages will find something they enjoy. One particularly useful feature is the SingaporeAir mobile app, which allows travelers to browse the KrisWorld library before their flight and save their preferred movies or shows to a personalized playlist. Once onboard, these selections automatically sync to the seat’s entertainment system, making it easy to start watching immediately.

One notable drawback of KrisWorld is the absence of external cameras on the A350 – something aviation enthusiasts love and many nervous flyers appreciate. Most airlines that operate the A350 install both forward-facing and tail cameras as standard, so it is somewhat surprising that Singapore Airlines chooses not to offer this feature. Having a real-time external view can be especially reassuring during takeoff, landing, and periods of turbulence, and its absence is a small but noticeable omission on an otherwise outstanding inflight entertainment platform.

8. Onboard Internet

Singapore Airlines’ A350s are equipped with Wi-Fi, and Business Class passengers enjoy complimentary internet access for the entire flight (with the exception of bandwidth-heavy activities such as streaming). This makes it easy to stay connected for messaging, email, and light browsing throughout the journey without needing to purchase an additional plan. Several paid plans are available for other passengers, ranging from short-duration messaging packages to full-flight internet passes, giving travelers the flexibility to choose the option that suits their needs. Speeds are reliable enough for email, messaging, and light browsing, making it easy to stay connected while in the air.

9. Other Inflight Experiences

# Crew

The cabin crew on this flight were exceptional, exemplifying the warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail that Singapore Airlines is renowned for. From the moment I boarded, the service felt genuine and personalized, with every interaction delivered with the airline’s signature grace. Throughout the flight, the crew were attentive without being intrusive, proactive without rushing, and consistently focused on making the journey as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Singapore Airlines’ crew are widely regarded as some of the best in the world, and this flight was yet another testament to that reputation.

One particularly memorable moment came when a flight attendant discreetly handed me a small handwritten note thanking me after noticing that I was taking photos for a review of Singapore Airlines’ A350 Business Class product my blog (you can see that note in my YouTube video). It was a thoughtful gesture—simple, sincere, and completely unprompted—that perfectly captured the spirit of Singapore Airlines’ hospitality.

# Lavatory

There are three toilets in the Business Class section: one located just behind the cockpit and two positioned between the forward and rear Business Class cabins. All are well maintained throughout the flight and stocked with a generous selection of toiletries.

10. Final Thoughts & My Verdict

As this review makes clear, my flight from Brussels to Singapore in Singapore Airlines’ A350 Business Class was a highly enjoyable long-haul experience that showcased many of the qualities the airline is renowned for. The cabin is elegant and spacious, the seat offers excellent width and privacy, and the inflight dining—shaped by Michelin-starred chefs—remains one of the best in the industry. KrisWorld provides a superb entertainment offering, and the complimentary Wi-Fi for Business Class passengers is a valuable addition on a 12-hour flight. The outstanding cabin crew, whose warm and attentive service consistently elevated the journey, was another clear highlight.

That said, this A350 Business Class seat is an older-generation product and does come with a few drawbacks. These include the angled sleeping position in non-bulkhead seats, the flip-down bed mechanism that limits flexibility, and the absence of privacy doors—features that more modern Business Class seats increasingly offer. The good news is that Singapore Airlines is set to introduce a brand-new Business Class seat next year, addressing many of these limitations and promising an even more refined experience.

Overall, despite a few age-related shortcomings, Singapore Airlines A350 Business Class remains an excellent choice for long-haul travel, combining comfort, privacy, strong dining, and world-class service in a consistently premium package.

Having explored every aspect of the journey in this detailed review, here is my final verdict on Singapore Airlines’ A350 Business Class:

  • Cabin design: 9/10
  • Cabin layout: 9/10
  • Seat privacy: 8/10
  • Seat comfort (upright): 9/10
  • Seat comfort (bed position): 7/10
  • Food (quality): 9/10
  • Food (quantity): 9/10
  • Inflight entertainment: 9/10
  • Wi-Fi: 9/10
  • Service: 10/10
  • Overall experience: very good – 8.8/10
