What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was motivated to lose weight when I had to have my blood pressure medicine increased due to postpartum eclampsia. My blood pressure kept reading high, and having a stroke or heart attack was a real fear. I have a three-year-old and a one-year-old, and I want to have a great quality of life for myself and them. I wanted to stop hating finding clothes to wear because nothing fits right. I also wanted to stop being fatigued all the time, especially with such active children.
I want to be strong, have endurance, and be here for as long as possible to be there for my children. I knew I needed to take control of my life and do something I’ve never done. For the first time, I am 100% committed to fitness. I look forward to my workouts and don’t like missing. This is a new way of life for me, and I’m glad I made the change.
I was almost one year postpartum. I have had two c-sections and Diastasis Recti. I had to work to restore my core as well as burn fat. I started the first two months by walking almost every day and maintaining a moderate caloric deficit. Then I added strength training a little over a month ago on top of the walking. I also increased calories so that I was on a slight caloric deficit instead of a moderate one.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started eating a high-protein, moderate-fat, and low-carb diet. I no longer eat candy or sweets. I’ve had it maybe three times in the past few months, in small amounts.
What is your workout routine?
10k walking and three-day split weight training. I’m focused on body recomposition. My goal is to gain muscle while losing fat. I’ve spent most of my life being very overweight. I wanted to avoid loose skin as much as possible and maintain collagen.
How often did you work out?
I work out five to six times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
220 pounds to 181 pounds
What is your height?
5’6″
When did you start your journey?
March 2025
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
With the help of God and staying focused, I can achieve anything I want in life. I learned to try the hard thing, and that I have to make myself happy.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Not every day will be super energized and motivating. That’s where discipline kicks in. Establish a routine where you know you need to do it, and your body responds even when you don’t feel like it.
