Ten Green Salads with Apples| The Organic Kitchen Blog and Tutorials

It’s finally fall, which means apples are in season! One of my favorite ways to use apples is in these Ten Green Salads with Apples. Each is lovely, delicious, healthy and make a great side to any protein.

Let’s Talk About Apples:

Apples are members of the rose family and here’s a fun fact: they can float because they are 25% air. Theyalso happen to be a fat-free, sodium-free, and cholesterol-free food that is a good source of fiber and water, providing about 80-130 calories for a medium-sized apple. Apples will ripen six to ten times faster at room temperature than if they were refrigerated. It takes about 36 apples to create one gallon of apple cider, which my friends, is why it’s better to eat them than drink them. Of course they are sweet or tart depending on variety, and while fabulous alone or baked in a pie, I absolutely love them in a green salad! So let’s get to it…

Ten Green Salads with Apples:

First up, the Roasted Carrot and Sweet Potato Salad is everything: sweet, savory, salty, and tart. And per usual, it’s beautiful, because food should always be pretty.

This Apple and Farro Salad is made with baby greens, sweet red apples, nutty farro, salty Manchego cheese, creamy avocado, tangy dried cranberries, fresh mint and dates!

Sometimes food surprises you. That was certainly the case the first time we tried this Five Greens Salad. It looks totally unassuming, but wow is it delicious! And so simple to make.

This Greens with Pomegranate Vinaigrette is one of my favorite holiday salads, but truth be told I serve it for family dinners as long as pomegranates are in season.

Here is The Organic Kitchen Chopped Salad with Apple Vinaigrette, simple and beautiful! Chopped romaine, caramelized walnuts, diced apples, dried cranberries and aged gouda drizzled with an amazing tangy apple vinaigrette.

The Organic Kitchen “House Salad” is a staple in our house! It’s really easy to make, goes with everything and is universally loved.

This Chopped Chicken Salad with Homemade Ranch, is a meal unto itself. Finely chopped romaine, diced rotisserie, tomatoes, avocados, cucumbers, apple and walnuts all tossed in a homemade dairy free ranch dressing.

This  Apple and Avocado Salad with Tangerine Dressing. It’s a very simple salad that tastes amazing and looks pretty on the table.

Ahhhhh, this little salad is so good! And super easy to make. I call it the Green Salad with Apples and Bacon (Whole30), because that’s what it is (and I couldn’t come up with a more creative title. Facts.)

Last but not least….If I had to pick my most underrated salad, it would be this one,  The Harvest Salad: Greens, Couscous, Fall Fruit and Apple Vinaigrette. I don’t know why it gets no play because it’s amazing if I do say so myself.
