On the northern edge of Napa Valley, where the Silverado Trail winds past vineyards and the Palisades Mountains rise, sits an unforgettable luxury wine resort. The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley isn’t just another wine country escape, it’s a Forbes Five Star resort built around a working winery. Every detail is perfection, and it’s been a Calistoga favorite for visitors and locals alike since opening its doors in 2021.

You know those idyllic provincial villages you see on Pinterest, complete with golden hour lighting, fresh produce, and ample opportunities to wear a sundress? This expansive property feels like that farmhouse village, just modernized and brought to life. The estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon vines climb towards majestic mountain views, sunlight dances across its two pools (one is adults only!), and there’s plenty of room to wander.

Everything you could want from a wine country weekend is here for the taking at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley. Michelin star dining? Check. Vineyard views, chic pool cabanas, and soul-restoring spa treatments? Check, check, and check — you can find it all within the resort’s 22 acres, inviting you to relax and enjoy the perfect wine country escape.

What Is a Wine Resort?

Wine resorts transform a wine country getaway into an experience that’s more personal and immersive. The first and only resort in Napa built around a working winery, a stay at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley ties you directly to the artistry of winemaking. For us, this makes it one of the best places to stay in Napa Valley — because for wine lovers, there’s nothing more magical than waking up amongst organic vineyards.

At the center of the Four Seasons is Elusa Winery, an organic estate. Just steps from your room, celebrated winemakers Thomas Rivers Brown and Jonathan Walden craft elegant, estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and other varietals. Guests are invited to experience the whole winemaking process, from harvest to blending, aging, and tasting.

For true enjoyment, book a flight of Cabernet at Elusa on its shaded terrace. Savor how each sip feels different after you’ve walked the vineyard rows and witnessed the journey from vine to glass. And when you’re done, make the short trip back to unwind in your room, no transport needed.

A Stay at the Four Seasons Napa Valley

As much as you’re likely in Napa for the wine, the Four Seasons doesn’t skimp on its other offerings. When you’re ready to indulge the senses even further, dive into the resort’s many other facilities.

Dining

Step into Auro Napa, Calistoga’s only Michelin-starred restaurant. Chef Rogelio Garcia presents a seasonal five course tasting menu — each dish is a work of art, a collaboration with those he’s sourced local ingredients from. Plates arrive on artisanal ceramics that signal this isn’t just dinner, but an intimate performance.

“For me, cooking is storytelling,” Chef Garcia shares. “This menu begins in the fields and farms of Northern California. It reflects my joy of ingredient sourcing; the anticipation of a new season; the essence of the sea and the soil; and my friendships with our ranchers, farmers and fishermen.”

Also on property is the unpretentious but refined TRUSS Restaurant and Bar. TRUSS delivers elevated casual dining, from wood-fired pizzas and hand-crafted lobster linguini to fresh seafood crudo. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of both lively and elegant. Inside, the bar hums with energy. Its floor to ceiling windows frame vineyard views, and conversations flow easily between guests and locals alike.

Poolside, Campo offers vibrant fresh Cal-Mex dishes like tuna poke bowls and crispy fish tacos, perfectly paired with inventive cocktails and zero-proof mocktails. Try the Kiwi al Sol, crafted with Mezcal, kiwi, coconut, and lime to deliver a refreshing kick.

There’s certainly no shortage of spas in Napa Valley, California, but Spa Talisa carries on that tradition of natural healing with treatments inspired by the holistic healing properties of the land. Think volcanic ash mud rituals, vineyard scrubs, and botanical facials. Between treatments, guests soak in the jacuzzi or relax on its sun-soaked deck with vineyard views.

The spa’s design captures a relaxed essence with stone elements, warm wood, and generous windows that let the sunlight stream in. From elegant lounges and eucalyptus steam rooms to outdoor misting relaxation decks, it’s easy to lose track of time and let the wine country calm take over.

For families or those seeking ultimate privacy, the three-bedroom estate villa offers its own pool, sun-soaked terraces, and sweeping vineyard views.

The resort’s unique character is rooted in the natural landscape and the vineyards of Elusa, its working winery. Beyond the Resort: Explore More Exceptional Wineries

Clos du Val

When you want to step away from the resort for a bit of exploring, Clos du Val in the Stags Leap District is less than a 30-minute drive away. Famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon that stunned the world at the 1976 Judgment of Paris, this French-founded estate now thrives under owner Olav Goelet and winemaker Carmel Greenberg. They’ve built a reputation for producing wines that balance prestige with sustainability; everything is viewed in the lens of stewardship of the land. Clos du Val Winery is Napa Green certified, committed to regenerative practices, and is pursuing a USDA Organic certification.

On the patio, elegant gardens circle a fountain framed by white roses, evoking the romance of the French countryside. Take a moment with a glass of wine to linger on the garden patio and take in the views of the lush meadow, or step inside Hirondelle House, a contemporary tasting pavilion. With arched doors, reclaimed French oak, and polished concrete floors that open to sweeping vineyard views, it creates a seamless connection between indoors and out, offering an inviting setting for a flight of Clos du Val wines.

Seasonal events bring the estate’s philosophy to life. Vineyard lunches pair fresh, local cuisine with guided strolls through the vines, while the upcoming Harvest Farmer’s Market highlights a commitment to community and sustainability. For those seeking more hands-on immersion, the Harvest Intern Experience invites guests to join Clos du Val’s winemaker and viticulturist in the fields for an unforgettable day of harvest.

For a tasting that comes full circle, try the Past, Present, and Future Yettalil series, which begins in a secluded cabana with an elegant library wine and the current release. Afterwards, you’re guided through a barrel tasting in the cellar of a future vintage. Each wine is paired with local artisan cheese and charcuterie to really treat the taste buds. You’ll get to try the estate’s flagship wine, the 2022 Yettalil, a rich and elegant Bordeaux-style blend from the Stags Leap vineyard. Clos du Val recently received a 2025 Decanter Award and also crafts one of the world’s finest Sauvignon Blancs, blended with Sémillon to honor both its Bordeaux heritage and Napa’s incredible terroir.

For a refined yet casual Napa experience, Clif Family Winery and Farm is the perfect choice. No reservations required, so feel free to be spontaneous and rock right up. You’ll be welcomed into a place where organically farmed wines, exquisite farm-to-table cuisine, farming, and sustainable practices are woven together effortlessly.

Founded by Kit Crawford and Gary Erickson after a cycling trip through Italy, Clif Family Winery and Farm blends Old World inspiration with Napa Valley’s world-famous terroir. Family-owned, CCOF, Napa Green, and B Corp certified, the winery is guided by a commitment to organic farming, sustainability, and community. The winery features 90 acres of vineyards and a thriving farm that provide the foundation for its wines and cuisine.

Experiences range from a private Pasto e Vino five-course lunch at its Enoteca, a cozy salon and outdoor patio with sweeping views of the Mayacamas Mountains. Each dish is introduced by the chef and paired perfectly with an estate wine, from the butternut squash soup to house-made agnolotti and red wine braised short ribs.

For standout wine pairings, try the 2024 Reyna Rosé of Cabernet Franc, which features bright notes of jasmine and tart cherry. The lively 2024 Vino del Pranzo Sauvignon Blanc is another great choice, with only 8.5% alcohol and notes of gooseberry and grapefruit. The 2022 Valle di Sotto Proprietary Red has a lovely jammy flavor with plum, spice, and floral tones — offering a luxurious expression of the Valle di Sotto estate vineyard.
