We spent a long weekend in Holden Beach, NC for a family reunion. Here’s the recap!
Family Reunion in Holden Beach
The Craig family is extra large and extra fun! Thomas’s mom, Eileen, has five siblings. Four of the Craigs and their kids and grandkids met in Holden Beach for a long-awaited family reunion. They hadn’t had one since before I joined the family in 2017. While a few key players were missing, it was great to see everyone in real life. A big group flew in from the West Coast, and others came from Tennessee and Georgia. Plus us – the Cville crew!

We chose Holden Beach as a central meeting zone and because Thomas’s cousin, Andrea, did a fabulous job planning the weekend and hooking us up with a coworkers house. The house was SO nicely decorated, well appointed, and had lots of bedrooms and a great pool.
That’s me floating in the upper right below. Pure heaven to float in a pool! I’m wearing a new ?Carve Designs? swimsuit – they make the best suits! It’s the ?Dahlia?. I also love the ?Tofino top? that’s like a sports bra and you can mix and match with bottoms you already have!

We were a short walk to the beach, too.

Activities
Unfortunately it was SO HOT with a heat index over 100. We literally had to be IN the water to cool off, and the water was 90 degrees!! Luckily the house had nice air conditioning. We spent lots of time at the beach and pool.

Day and Night!

I went on a beach walk every morning and had to immediately dip in the ocean to cool off.

Group Pic!
I was in charge and it was sweltering, but we got everyone in!

Some members of the family look more alike than others 🙂

We celebrated a birthday too!

Birthday Trifle by Eileen!

Dinners
We had 21 people at our max, so dinners had to be well coordinated. The first night we ordered a bunch of pizzas (and had more for leftovers the next day). The next night John Donne took the lead with BBQ chicken, grits, beans from his garden, and corn on the cob. I somehow didn’t get a photo of this event!
The next night was taco night by the West Coast Craigs.

More for lunch the next day!

BBQ Night
Our final night was take-out BBQ with homemade succotash.

Ice cream!

Breakfast + Lunches
We were on our own for these meals – typical beach favorites of sandwiches and yogurt / cereal bowls.

We hope to have another reunion inside of three years – or 1,000 sunsets!
