A Corntastic Halloween • Kath Eats

Here’s a recap of our Halloween and fall activities at the Blue Ridge Mountain Maze.

Halloween Fun

Loved having Halloween on a Saturday this year! Many of us dressed up for our morning workout. Maddie and I went as soccer players, which was a great costume since it was easy to sweat in!

Birch had a soccer game and we came home to build more toys from his birthday gift collection! The house was strewn with plastic bags and boxes, only to be replaced by candy wrappers a few days later!

For trick-or-treating, we went to a fall party at the home of one of Birch’s classmates who lives downtown, and then we walked as a group with his school friends. I went as a witch, per usual. (I colored my hair purple if you can’t tell!)

My Quince dress made the perfect witch costume!

The boys had a blast!! They literally sprinted door-to-door.

Mazen was in another neighborhood having a sleepover with a few friends, and they dressed as surfer boys and came home with more candy than I’ve ever seen. I really love the spookiness of Halloween, but I do not love that half of this candy is now gone!!

Blue Ridge Mountain Maze

Birch and I met up with Maddie, Katie, and Ivy for a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountain Maze at Blue Toad Hard Cider! It’s in Roseland, just off Route 151 near the base of Wintergreen. We had perfect fall weather: crisp, cool, and sunny. A corntastic day to get lost in a field!

Through The Corn Maze

Birch took his job as our guide very seriously, leading the way with his flag. Whenever the rest of us felt a little discorniented, he kept us moving along.

I think we spent about 30–45 minutes finding our way through, which was less time than we expected.

Once we came out and could see how big the maze actually was, I was even more impressed that we’d made it through so quickly!

We were huge fans of the corn jokes, as you can tell!

Goats, Slides, And A Runaway Tube

We loved seeing the baby goats, baby pigs, and the other animals. Then we corntinued the fun with the kids’ obstacle course and slides, which Birch loved.

Maddie provided the most memorable moment of the day when she rolled down the hill inside one of the big black tubes. She picked up a little too much momentum and nearly crashed into the fence! Almost a corncussion!

We cornsumed some kettle corn and an apple cider slushy, both of which were so good. The perfect pairing! Between the maze, animals, slides, and snacks, this outing was a strong corntender for a favorite fall adventure!

Other Fall Activities

Rocktober 80s day at the gym!

Nest Realty Fall Fest

Yay Ivy Haines, Nest Realty!

Hogwarts Renovation

We upgraded the table that the boys’ LEGO Hogwarts lives on, and we connected a desk so that Diagon Alley has its own zone! HUGE improvement to the tiny desk it was all smushed onto before. Thanks to my neighbors for the IKEA craft table.

Fall Breakfasts

I’m saving food for another post, but here are two lovely breakfasts. One with the misty mountains in the background, and the other featuring a pancake that was oddly shaped like a leaf!

Whatever this plant is, it’s gorgeous this time of year!

Oh and lastly, I voted for that Blue Tsunami!!!!!
