Tis The Season • Kath Eats

Here’s some life lately – merriment, music, and family time <3

The last day of short sleeves??

Happy December

We’ve been here there and everywhere! Birch and I went to TWO musical events over the past few weeks. The first was the Charlottesville Symphony. We got free tickets through his school. I wasn’t sure if he would sit still, but he did! We did decide to leave at intermission, but he had great comments on the music. He’s very musical! I really want to take him to some Pops concerts where he might recognize the pieces.

Our second event was the middle school orchestra concert.

Mazen agreed to go because he knew some classmates, and we brought Sean along since he is the Music Man. We had much closer seats this time, so everyone enjoyed the whole thing!

Thomas and I went to a family event at Birch’s classroom where he showed us some work and had lunch together in the cafeteria. It’s always so cute to see his daily life in school!

And where he learned 6-7 like every other kid in America!!

I loved his Mandalorian turkey!

We loved this DIY kaleidoscope Kiwi Crate B got for his birthday!

Mazen has gotten really into mountain biking! His whole Christmas list is biking equipment. He’s also always been interested in cooking and helped me make a Blue Apron recipe. (Birch kid food in the oven LOL!)

We loved these!

Tell me you have boys without telling me:

Sorry Gus, not for dogs!

All Harry Potter fans should get the Lego advent calendar! Huge hit!

Mixology

I went with Katie and Holly to a mixology class at the Kimpton Hotel.

We made a French 75, Sidecar, and Boulevardier.

We loved the first and last ones – the Sidecars were too strong! (We also did not drink all of each one – that would have been too much for me!)

Sean joined us for some Rummikub in the Liiiiibrary afterwards. We play this game everywhere!

Candlelight Yoga

I come alive as a yogi in the winter! The cozy, dreary weather makes me crave the quiet. I went to a candlelight class at ACAC and loved it.

Virginia Wine Collective Opening

Ellen took me to the Virginia Wine Collective Opening where we sampled wines from small-batch winemakers along with food pairings!

Boot Season at Happy Hour

Kath Eats Real Food

Whipped Banana Oatmeal with AB!

Cereal with Poms

Bagel + Grapes

Girl Lunch

I am OBSESSED with these Wild Planet bowls for quick lunches! They’re protein-forward and shelf stable, so I can just stock up and have them whenever. My favorite is the quinoa one, but the white bean salad is the best price.

Cod Cake + Kale Chips + ELF

Rotisserie Chicken + Wegman’s Frozen Mac + Green Beans

I always make dipping sauces with Greek yogurt, and this one was just yogurt and Cholula!

Brown Sugar Salmon + Rice + Zucchini + More Dipping Sauce

This brown sugar Cajun salmon is a Blue Apron recipe that I make over and over!

Blue Apron Salmon + Squash

And actual Blue Apron salmon dinner!

Last but not least, a pork chop from Mockingbird!

Hope you have a lovely winter weekend!
