Marc is all smiles at MAN v FAT Fife

Whilst MAN v FAT’s main support to men is to help them lose weight, there are typically huge improvements made to members’ wellbeing and mental health too.

The creation of new friendships, being a part of a strong community and generally feeling better about yourself has a range of beneficial impacts.

And that’s certainly something that Marc Cole has found since he got involved at MAN v FAT Fife.

Marc has lost over 30kg since getting started with MAN v FAT and he has felt the benefits.

“It’s made me have a life style change,” he said. “I was never active before I joined the programme I would just sit around and eat.

“The only active movements I had was at my work and it took a toll on me, physically as well as mentally, as I didn’t really get out either. I was just stuck in a rut that I couldn’t get out of.

“Now I’m walking places I used to take the car to, I’m playing football more and I’ve even bought exercise equipment just to keep myself active.

“Mentally, I’m a lot happier and more cheerful and I feel like I’m myself again and not in a rut anymore. I honestly couldn’t be for grateful for MAN v FAT.”

We had previously reported on the great work at MAN v FAT Fife, where coach Ryan Delargey has helped the guys to great weight loss successes.

And Marc is relishing being a part of the group, adding: “Everyone in the community gets on with each other – we support each other on our weight loss and percentages. Not just that, we also talk to one another if we have a problem mentally as well, so it’s just a great group of people. Some of us play extra football on a Monday to keep ourselves fit and healthy as well.

“If you’re unsure, take a leap, it’s the best thing that’s happened to me. When I get asked how I’ve lost the weight I tell then all the time it’s because of MAN v FAT – I can’t praise it enough.”

Marc’s just getting started, too. He’s keen to continue to improve his health and wellbeing, to be there for his kids and to continue that positive change.

He said: “I want to keep active and healthy, so that I am here longer for my kids and wife – it’s them that made me what to make the big change in my life. They may say I’m their hero, but in reality they’re my heroes and inspiration.”
