Yup! This may be corny, but I caught a squirrel who stole corn on the cob right off the stalk from a neighboring farm. My son happens to have a farm directly behind his back yard which grows corn.
The other day, I stopped by my son’s house. I walked through the backyard, and as I walked across the yard, I spotted something comical—a squirrel with an ear of yellow corn on the cob in his mouth!
He was trying to make his way across the yard to get away from me, but he was having a hard time running with that big ear of corn.
Despite me standing there taking pictures, the squirrel decided that eating his corn was more important than escaping. He stopped, sat down, and took a few good bites until he eventually scurried away with the corn cob still in his mouth.
It was pretty entertaining to watch. It was surprised to come across this little guy carrying around an ear of corn almost half his size.
My daughter-in-law tells me that the squirrel isn’t the only one enjoying the farmer’s corn. They also have a local groundhog that has been helping himself to an ear or two right off the stalks as well!
I’ve also seen fox and deer in their yard near the corn. I guess their backyard has some very happy—and very well-fed—visitors.
I also saw deer last night in my friend Vicki’s yard. We have a lot of deer in our neighborhoods. Do you?
