With our Amazing Losers game on the horizon, we’re spending the days leading up to kick off meeting the lads who’ll be pulling on the shirts in this year’s game at Walsall FC. It’s another Welshman this time and the MAN v FAT superstar that is David Quinn!
Tell us more about your initial reasons for joining MAN v FAT
My wife saw a BBC Breakfast segment advertising it – at that point in time I was really depressed and close to my heaviest weight. I could hardly walk up the stairs let alone play football and she convinced me to give it a go, because I had always loved football and every other week I had the conversation with myself about sorting out my weight.
If you could go back in time and talk to the version of you at the start of your weight loss efforts, what would you tell them about the changes you’ve experienced?
I would tell myself that it’s going to be the greatest journey you’ll ever go on, you’re going to do such amazing things, it’s going open so many doors and change your life in the most incredible way. You’ll not only change your life but be given the opportunity to change other people’s lives, you’re scared now but you’re going to be a different person and it’s going to be so hard, you’re going to want to give up but, when you get to the other side, it will all have been worth it.

Who would you like to thank for their help in your progress?
My amazing wife Sally, every single player who I’ve had the honour of coaching at MAN v FAT Bridgend, my ACs JL & Raz. My Cardiff Coach Stan and all of my team mates over the years, from the OG Citrus Boys to my boys in Vanillareal and Barsirloina who have supported me all the way. A huge thank you to my RM Stu for taking a chance on me and my cheerleader Elle.
What are your future hopes around your health and wellbeing?
My immediate hopes for my health and wellbeing is to get under 100kg by the end of 2026 and start trying for a mini Quinn which has been the aim all along and been the whole reason for this!
How much are you looking forward to the game in May?
I can’t put into words how much I’m looking forward to it, if I can bag a goal too that would be the icing on the cake!
