Here’s a recap of our second friend visit to Bald Head Island.

Two years ago I brought a group of Cville friends to our house on Bald Head Island and we got washed out by the remnants of a hurricane. Two years later, the very same thing happened! What are the chances? But unlike last time, we had at least half a day of sunshine on the tail end to enjoy.
Most of the weekend was spent like this!

Or this:

We finished three puzzles in three days!

It was still a good time though! We weren’t going to let a little downpour rain on our parade!
Drive Down Pit Stop for Human Fuel

Ferry Enthusiasm

Cloudy Baldy

It’s always such a relief to arrive at the house after six hours in the car, the ferry ride, the tram service, and luggage haul!

Beach Walk
We beelined to the beach knowing it might rain later that evening.

Dock Happy Hour

Dinner at Aqua
We got dressed up for dinner at Aqua at the Shoals Club.

Dinner was lovely!

The highlight was Ivy’s creamed corn that tasted like corn mac and cheese!

I had a cod dish with roasted vegetables and creamed barley.

Karaoke with Penn
We took the golf cart to Jules’ for karaoke, just like last time. It was so much fun, and even more exciting when Penn of The Holderness Family stepped up to the mic! I’ve been a fan of their videos for years, and I recognized him immediately. They are from the Raleigh area, and this was my second time seeing them at BHI.

Saturday
We had torrential rain nearly all of Saturday, unfortunately! We made the best of it with lots of games, puzzles, and reading.

We went Jailhouse for lunch. I got a shrimp salad – and these hush puppies!

Little bit of shopping!

Mid-afternoon, we had exactly 30 minutes without heavy rain so we ventured out for a walk.

Pizzas from Copper’s!

More games! More puzzles!

And finally our beach tradition: Mega Oreos mashed into Breyers Vanilla Bean. Classic!!!

Sunday
On Sunday, the weather looked more promising! Sean made Kodiak cakes for breakfast.

We tried to take a walk around the lighthouse, but a thunderstorm had us running for cover!

Lunch was a “clean out the fridge” situation! Leftover pizza, pimento cheese, pretzels.

And then the sun came out!

Some of us took the sun very seriously

We had a lovely warm and sunny beach walk.

Dinner at Cozumel
For our final dinner, we went to the new-to-me restaurant Cozumel. We were all fans! The margs were great, and my arroz con pollo bowl was FAB!

Farewell
On Monday morning, the island was showing off its blue skies. We took the early ferry before our trek back to Cville. Sea you next time, Baldy!
