JetBlue Launches More Flights to These Caribbean Destinations

It’s about to get easier — and more comfortable — to get to Puerto Rico and elsewhere in the Caribbean with a significant JetBlue expansion in the region.

Starting in October, the carrier will launch flights to and from San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) and six new destinations, including Providence, Rhode Island, Westchester, New York, and Cancun, according to JetBlue. With the new flights, JetBlue will now fly to a total of 18 destinations from Puerto Rico.

“JetBlue has been a proud part of the Puerto Rican community for over twenty years, and we’re excited to deepen our roots with this expansion,” Marty St. George, the president of JetBlue, said in a statement. “Our decades-long history with this vibrant community drives our enthusiasm to not only increase our service but also to strengthen our relationships and presence in the region. We are excited to continue growing alongside the Puerto Rican community, ensuring that JetBlue remains a key partner in connecting the people of Puerto Rico.”

With the expansion, JetBlue will launch flights to and from San Juan from:

  • Providence, RI; once per day starting Oct. 27
  • Westchester County, NY; once per day starting Oct. 27
  • Santiago, Dominican Republic; once per day starting Oct. 28
  • Medellín, Colombia; four times per week starting Oct. 29
  • Cancun, Mexico; three times per week starting Oct. 28
  • St. Croix, USVI; once per day starting Dec. 12

In addition, the airline will enhance its luxury offering to the island, introducing its business class Mint cabin for the first time on flights between San Juan and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in July. JetBlue’s Mint experience includes lie-flat seats, menus from New York City restaurants Pasquale Jones, Charlie Bird, and Legacy Records, and Tuft & Needle bedding.

To celebrate, JetBlue is offering one-way flights starting at just $29 from San Juan to St. Croix, starting at $79 to Providence, starting at $89 to Santiago or Westchester; and starting at $99 to Medellín or Cancun. The airline is also offering Mint fares from New York starting at just $399 one-way. To take advantage, travelers must book by May 10. Travel and blackout dates vary by destination.

Beyond Puerto Rico, JetBlue will expand its presence on other Caribbean islands with new flights from New York to both St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Bonaire in the fall, as well as resume daily service between San Juan and St. Croix in December.

Miles Mercera, the CEO at Tourism Corporation Bonaire, told Travel + Leisure he was “elated” travelers “will now have more options from this key US hub to easily discover all that our Caribbean gem has to offer.”
