Undas long weekend trips need sharper timing this year. All Saints’ Day lands on a Sunday this year, so the “long weekend” everyone is planning is really Saturday 31 October to Monday 2 November, three days, with most families spending at least one of them at the sementeryo. That leaves a tight window for a trip, and the good seats go fast. A Manila to Hong Kong fare on a quiet week sits under PHP 3,000 one way. On Undas weekend, it will not wait for you.
This guide is for Filipino families and barkadas who want to do both: light candles for the lola and still get a proper break. We cover the confirmed 2026 dates, when to visit the cemetery so you are not stuck on NLEX, and the best Undas getaways from Manila, Cebu and Clark, from Baguio and La Union to Bohol, Iloilo, Hong Kong and Bangkok. Every price was checked on 28 September 2026, and anything we could not confirm is flagged.

Undas long weekend trips 2026: the quick answer
- Official dates. Under Proclamation No. 1006, series of 2025, signed on 3 September 2025, 1 November 2026 (Sunday) is All Saints’ Day and 2 November 2026 (Monday) is All Souls’ Day. Both are special (non-working) days. 31 October 2026 falls on a Saturday and is not declared a holiday in the proclamation.
- The undas 2026 long weekend runs Saturday 31 October to Monday 2 November. One day of leave on Friday 30 October or Tuesday 3 November makes it four.
- No extra days announced yet. As of 28 September 2026 we found no later proclamation adding 31 October or 3 November. Malacanang has added Undas days before, so check again in mid October (NEEDS VERIFICATION).
- Book now. For buses, flights and ferries on 30 and 31 October, a month ahead is already the practical deadline.
- Visa-free and close. Hong Kong (14 days), Taiwan (14 days), Vietnam (21 days) and Thailand (30 days) are visa-free for Philippine passports. South Korea needs a visa, which is unrealistic for this Undas unless you already hold one.

How to plan the three days: cemetery first, trip second
The single biggest decision is the order. Most families visit on 1 November, some on 31 October to beat the crowd, a few on 2 November. Pick your cemetery day first, then build the trip around it.
Last year shows why. For Undas 2025, NLEX Corporation told the Inquirer it expected about 475,000 vehicles on its network, with peaks from the afternoon of 30 October through the night of 31 October, the morning of 1 November and the afternoon of 2 November. The weekdays shift in 2026, but the pattern holds: the exodus starts the working afternoon before the long weekend, and the return crush hits the last holiday afternoon. This year, expect the worst on Friday 30 October after lunch and Monday 2 November after lunch, on SLEX as much as NLEX.
Three plans that actually work:
- Cemetery Saturday, trip Sunday to Monday. Visit on 31 October, leave early on 1 November while everyone else is at the sementeryo.
- Trip first, cemetery Monday. Leave Friday night, come back Sunday night and do the cemetery on All Souls’ Day.
- Fly out, skip the roads entirely. If your family’s visit is done on 31 October, an evening flight that same Saturday gets you two full days abroad.
The LTFRB is taking special permit applications for extra provincial buses from 21 September to 2 October 2026, with permits valid 28 October to 6 November, according to Philstar. That adds seats, but the best timeslots on the premium classes still sell first.
What books out first, in our experience: Friday evening and Saturday dawn departures from Cubao and PITX, the 28-seater luxury buses to Baguio, mid morning fast craft from Cebu to Tagbilaran, and Saturday morning flights out of NAIA. Monday afternoon returns go next. If you lock in one thing this week, make it the return.
PITX handles southbound buses and some northbound operators like Solid North, while Victory Liner, Genesis and JoyBus use their own Cubao and Pasay terminals. Arrive 45 minutes early, screenshot your ticket, and eat before you queue. The best domestic Undas trips, by bus, plane and ferry
Baguio: our top pick from Manila. Late October brings the first cold mornings, and Baguio is about six hours by bus, less at night. Fares as of August 2026, per The Poor Traveler’s schedule page: Victory Liner regular from Cubao PHP 655 to 666, First Class PHP 1,055; Solid North deluxe from PITX PHP 850; JoyBus Premiere PHP 999. The honest downside: Session Road and Burnham Park get packed, and the Marcos Highway and Kennon Road approaches back up on Saturday afternoon. Go up Friday night, stay in the city center, and walk.
La Union: for the barkada. San Juan’s surf season starts picking up around October, and Urbiztondo is about five to seven hours from Manila depending on TPLEX traffic. Viron Transit and Partas both run to San Fernando, but the fares we found (Viron about PHP 505, Partas PHP 800 to 960) come from an older 2022 listing, so treat those as a floor (NEEDS VERIFICATION). Rooms along the beach go early for Undas, so check places to stay near Urbiztondo in San Juan before you commit to the bus.
Tagaytay and Batangas: for families with lolo and lola. If the cemetery is in Cavite, Laguna or Batangas anyway, a night in Tagaytay or a day at a Batangas beach turns the family trip into a real break. Two hours from Manila normally, three or more on Undas Saturday, so go late morning on Sunday 1 November, after the dawn cemetery rush. Bohol: the best island trip for three days. On Trip.com’s Manila to Tagbilaran route page, a Cebu Pacific round trip for 29 October to 4 November was showing at PHP 5,674, checked 28 September 2026. From Cebu, it is two hours by fast craft. 12Go’s Cebu to Bohol listing, checked the same day, shows FastCat from PHP 411, Lite Shipping from PHP 483, SuperCat from PHP 946 and OceanJet from PHP 999, with around two dozen daily departures. Cebuanos can book the Cebu to Tagbilaran ferry on 12Go and be in Panglao by lunch on Saturday.
For the countryside, the simplest route is a private car tour that picks you up in Panglao or Tagbilaran: Chocolate Hills, the tarsier sanctuary, Baclayon Church, the man-made forest and the Loboc river lunch in one day. You can book the Bohol Chocolate Hills, tarsier and river cruise tour on Klook, which was listed from PHP 1,524 per person when we checked.
Iloilo, Cebu and Siargao: the quick hitters. Iloilo is the value play: Trip.com showed Manila to Iloilo one way at PHP 2,041 on AirAsia and PHP 2,078 on Cebu Pacific for Tuesday 3 November. Good for anyone doing the cemetery on Monday and taking Tuesday off. Cebu City is a weekend of lechon and Sirao with no ferry needed. Siargao is the one to skip this year: Trip.com’s data puts the average November one way fare from Manila at up to PHP 11,024, and three days is too short once you add the Del Carmen transfer.
Short-haul abroad over Undas: Hong Kong, Taipei, Ho Chi Minh, Bangkok, Seoul
From Manila most of these cities are two to four hours away. Budget for the TIEZA travel tax: PHP 1,620 for economy, per the April 2026 rates in Trip.com’s travel tax guide. A bill to scrap it has advanced, according to BusinessWorld, but it is still collected. Register your eTravel before the airport too.

Hong Kong is our pick for a three day Undas abroad. HK Express keeps fares honest, and Tsim Sha Tsui, the Peak and Ngong Ping fit in two full days. World-Wide House in Central, where OFWs gather on Sundays, has Filipino grocery stalls and remittance centers if you need a taste of home.
Taipei works because Taiwan’s Bureau of Consular Affairs extended visa-free entry for Filipinos from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027.
Bangkok cut the visa-free stay for Filipinos back to 30 days from 15 September 2026, according to the Inquirer. Still plenty for a long weekend.
Seoul is the trap. The Korean tourist visa takes 15 to 20 working days as of May 2026, per The Poor Traveler’s visa guide, plus a PHP 900 KVAC service fee. Applying today will not get you to Seoul by 31 October. Save it for Christmas.

Where to stay for an Undas weekend in Baguio
Baguio fills first because it is the default. The practical base is the Session Road and Burnham Park area, where the public market, the cafes and the jeepney stops are all walkable and you can leave the car parked all weekend. Rates below are the “from” prices shown on Trip.com’s Baguio area guide, not Undas prices. Expect long weekend rates to run noticeably higher (NEEDS VERIFICATION for your dates).
- City Center Hotel, Session Road area: from PHP 1,965 a night. Good for couples, short walk to Burnham Park.
- Hotel Veniz Burnham: from PHP 2,905. Older building, unbeatable location.
- Microtel by Wyndham Baguio: from PHP 3,101. Reliable for families, with parking.
- 456 Hotel, near the bus terminals: from PHP 1,518. Best if you arrive at dawn on the bus.
- John Hay Hotels Forest Wing, Camp John Hay: from PHP 4,665. Quieter, pine trees, a short taxi ride from town.

Practical tips for Undas travel
Pack for two climates. The cemetery is hot and humid. Baguio at 6am in early November often dips into the mid teens Celsius. A light jacket, umbrella, sunscreen and slippers you can wear in both places cover it.
Bring cash for the cemetery. Candles, flowers and parking near the big Manila cemeteries are cash only, and prices climb on 31 October and 1 November. ATMs near the big cemeteries can run dry by midday, so withdraw the day before.
Get your data sorted before landing. For Hong Kong, an eSIM is easier than hunting for a SIM counter at the airport with a queue behind you. You can set up a Hong Kong eSIM with Airalo at home, then switch it on when you land. For domestic trips, Globe and Smart both work in Baguio, La Union and Bohol, though signal is patchy in the Chocolate Hills area.
Pasalubong on the way home. Baguio’s ube jam and peanut brittle, Bohol’s calamay and Hong Kong’s egg rolls all travel well. Buy on day two, before the last morning queues.
Travel insurance. For trips abroad, a basic policy covering medical costs and delays is worth it on a peak weekend, when a cancelled flight can mean no seat home until Tuesday.
