Here’s a recap of our icy week.

That’s the mountain above my new neighborhood. It was the only pretty thing about this past weekend’s snow storm! Gosh I hate being trapped inside and isolated from the world. I couldn’t leave my driveway for four days, and school has been out all week.
I did finally meet some neighbors though! We moved into this townhouse in November and the weather was already cold enough that there weren’t a lot of people to meet on front porches or the playground. But this weekend – everyone came outside to shovel! I met neighbors on both sides and asked them if they heard the boys yelling all the time. I was so relieved to hear neither one had!
This was also the first time I was 100% responsible for my driveway. I had no idea what I was doing so I copied the neighbors by pushing the snow out. Boy was it a lot of work! But sort of satisfying and definitely a workout.

But then the next day, the plows had blocked me back in with a mountain of rock-solid ice. I bribed Mazen to help me chip through it. We had to borrow a metal shovel from neighbors, and honestly we could have used an ice pick.

The boys had lots of fun outside as usual. We went to the school for sledding, but the best sledding was actually just down our street, which is on a big hill. They went pretty fast!

Typical short sleeves in 20 degrees!!!

Snow Pod
We had some visitors who were all within walking distance. That made the show day a little more fun!

Inside Activities
The boys alternated sledding with lots of indoor activities. Birch and I baked a cake!!

And I even got both boys to help make sheet pan chicken thighs.

More Meals
Pre-snow Domino’s as a surprise for the boys:

Cozy breakfast

I have food for a month with all this Fishwife! Shelf stable delicious fish. The tuna and salmon are filets so they feel more like something you cooked than the usual canned tuna. The flavors are great too!

Pesto chicken angel hair

Other inside activities – we built a fort

And played video games

Puzzled!

Lil Workout
I also escaped to the neighborhood gym on day two for a little mental health break!

I had a little bourbon : )
Birch and I both got haircuts right before the storm!

GlowRight Lights
And to make the mood extra cozy – I had the perfect lighting! I am SO IMPRESSED with GlowRight lights.

I’d seen them on Instagram before, and was thrilled to get some for the new rental. As you know, in a rental you can’t exactly just call an electrician to install lighting, and under cabinet lights are one of my favorite ways to elevate a kitchen.
These lights are:
- Wireless – they stick on with strong adhesive
- Rechargeable – with a USB-C cord
- Vary in color temperature – from white to yellow
- Have multiple ways to turn on and off: motion, door, hand wave
- Different formats: they come in sconces, bars, and strips!
Charging them before putting under the cabinets:

I am obsessed with how good they make my space look!!!! Check them out here.

Stay warm, stay cozy!
Another fan of the Nod Pod!
