Why did you join MAN v FAT in the first place?
I initially joined MAN v FAT after seeing adverts on Facebook. My wife’s colleague had been at the Gillingham MVF for awhile and was having a fantastic time with it.
I was deeply unhappy with my body, health and mentally was in a pretty bad place. I decided id try it for a bit and see how it goes.
What have been the best and hardest bits of your efforts to get to BMI Boss status?
The early part was hard, having the confidence to speak to some of the lads and figuring out the food and weight loss side of things, plus I was shocking on the pitch, truly awful!
But a few weeks in I found out my wife was pregnant and knew I needed to lock in and take this seriously I talked to a few of the lads who were amazing on helping me with a fitness plan.
I used my experience as a chef with the food and I dropped 20% in my first two seasons! In my fourth season, I injured my ankle pretty badly and the lads were great in supporting me.

What are the biggest benefits you’re now feeling from being at a healthy weight?
I suffer from a couple of chronic health conditions and the weight loss has drastically helped with these. I don’t snore anymore which my wife is delighted with!
I have tonnes more energy. I walk everywhere I can with my wife and son we live a much more active and healthy lifestyle. The whole weight loss journey has brought us closer together and I couldnt have done it without her
How important has the MAN v FAT community been in getting you to this stage – and keeping you there?
The MAN v FAT community has been massive for me, I’ve made great mates and the lads have been incredible for my mental and physical health, a few even helped me prepare for becoming a dad.
MAN v FAT has changed my life forever – I could talk for hours about it. I’m completely obsessed I look forward to it every week.
Last season, I became captain so I could try and help others on their journeys irrespective of which team they play for!
