This email isn’t asking you to sign up for anything. It isn’t asking you to raise money. It’s asking you to take five minutes to know your balls.
MAN v FAT are supporting The Robin Cancer Trust, the UK’s only testicular, ovarian and germ cell cancer charity and are backing their campaign #TalkingBollocks.
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15–45. The good news is that it is highly curable when detected early.
Do you know what to look for?
The five key signs and symptoms of testicular cancer are:
LUMP
HARDNESS
SWELLING
PAIN
HEAVINESS
You should also pay attention to anything that isn’t normal for you.
How to check your balls
The best time to check your balls is during or just after a warm bath or shower. This is when the balls are relaxed making it easier to check!
1. Check one testicle at a time using both hands.
2. Firmly but gently roll your testicle between your thumb and fingers. Don’t squeeze too hard.
3. Get to know what’s normal for you. One testicle may naturally be slightly bigger.
4. Feel for any lumps, hardness, swelling or other changes.
5. Repeat once a month.
And if you find something that doesn’t feel right? Speak to your GP.
Don’t let embarrassment stop you
Your GP is used to discussing intimate health concerns and what you tell them is confidential. You are not wasting their time, and the earlier a problem is investigated, the better.
