I’ve been using the Beast Mega 1200 Plus for a while now and it’s completely changed my morning smoothie routine. Here’s my honest review — what I love, what to know before you buy, and why I think it’s worth it. Disclosure: Beast sent me this blender to review.
This past spring I accidentally slammed my glass blender into the countertop and chipped it leaving a sharp glass edge sticking out – not exactly safe. I had gotten that blender as a hand-me-down when I moved, and so I was on the hunt for a replacement. That same week, Beast reached out asking if I was interested in trying one of their blenders. I had never had a “single serve” style blender before, so I wasn’t sure if it had the power I needed, but of course I said yes to giving it a go!
I got the Beast Mega 1200 Plus in Sage. It’s gorgeous!!
Beast Blender: What’s in the Box
The Mega 1200 Plus ($219) comes as a bundle with three blending vessels: a supersized 1200mL for family smoothies, a 1000mL all-purpose size for single smoothies, and a 500mL for smaller blends and sauces.
You also get storage lids, a drinking lid with carry cap, a straw cap with straws, and cleaning brushes. The base is 1200 watts, has a 4.9″ x 4.9″ footprint, and stands 17″ tall with the large vessel attached. Weighs 6.9 lbs total – the lightest blender I’ve ever had.
Why I Love It
Three Vessel Sizes for Everything
The three vessel sizes are what sold me, and they continue to be my favorite thing about this blender. I use the big one for family smoothies, the medium one for my personal morning blend, and the small one for sauces and dressings. The blade screws on top of each vessel to switch between them. You then flip it over and screw it on the base to blend.
I never liked putting garlicky or savory things in my regular blender — everything would taste vaguely like pesto for the next week — so having a dedicated tiny vessel for sauces or dressings is a game changer.
I keep all of my parts in a basket in a lower cabinet, next to the base.
Dishwasher Safe — Including the Blade
The second best thing is that because the pieces come apart and the materials are durable, the blender is dishwasher safe. Everything goes in — the vessels, the lids, the blade — and the only thing you hand-wash is the base if you get drips on it. While hand-washing a blender doesn’t take hours, this is one of those daily time-saver tasks that just makes life that much easier.
Note: the company says top rack only, but the bigger vessels are too tall for my top rack, so I put them on the bottom and have had no trouble. Use caution if you have an older / hotter dishwasher.
One Button, Perfect Results Every Time
The one-button operation is genuinely satisfying. You press it, the blender does its thing in a timed cycle, and the result is consistently smooth. No guessing when it’s done, no stopping to check, no chunks at the bottom. It handles frozen fruit and spinach perfectly, which was honestly my biggest concern before buying. No Glass to Shatter
The vessels are made from ultra-thick BPA-free plastic, so everything is lightweight and there’s nothing to shatter. That was actually the whole reason I got this blender — my last one chipped and had a sharp glass edge. (I am notorious for breaking glass things in the kitchen: coffee carafes, french presses, blenders.) And if you do lose a lid or break something down the road, replacement parts are easy to order since everything breaks down in parts.
The Straw Lid and the Colors
The straw lid is a nice bonus I didn’t expect to use as much as I do — it’s perfect for taking a smoothie in the car. And aesthetically, this blender is just pretty. It comes in seven colors (Sage, Sand, Charcoal, Cloud White, Carbon Black, Navy, and Mocha), and it actually looks good sitting on the counter rather than something you want to hide in a cabinet. But it’s also so lightweight that I just tuck mind under. I don’t mind getting it in and out.
How to Use It
It couldn’t be simpler. Here’s the whole routine:
1. Add Your Ingredients
Pour your liquid in first — milk, almond milk, whatever you’re using — then add everything else on top. Frozen fruit, spinach, protein powder, you name it. Liquid first is the key to a smooth blend every time.
2. Screw on the Blade
Attach the blade to the top (future bottom) of the vessel and twist until it’s secure.
3. Flip and Attach to the Base
Flip the vessel upside down and lock it onto the motor base.
4. Press the Button and Wait
One press. The blender runs its timed cycle — about a minute — and shuts off on its own. It stops and starts so ingredients have time to settle.
5. Remove the Blade, Add Your Lid
Unscrew the blade, swap on the drinking lid and straw, and you’re ready to go. You can either quick clean the blade or put it in the top rack of the dishwasher.
6. Sip!
Drink straight from the vessel — no extra cups, no extra dishes. My favorite part.
One Thing to Know: User Error
The one time I had a blending issue, I’d overfilled it. All the fruit just sat there. Completely user error, and easily solved: add your liquid first, then pile everything else on top. My smoothie tips post has more on getting the perfect blend every time.
My only complaint: the straws are too narrow! I need a thicker straw for smoothie consistency. I still use them though. You can use any straw you have.
Is It Worth It?
For the price ($219 for the Plus bundle), you’re getting three vessels, a 1200-watt motor, a compact footprint, and a 2-year warranty. Coming from a blender with a cracked glass cup, I’d say absolutely yes. It’s the kind of thing you use every single day. And as far as high-end blenders go, that is a good price!
How It Compares to Other Beast Blenders
Beast makes a few different models, so here’s the quick breakdown:
- Mega 1200 Plus ($219) — what I have; the full bundle with all three vessel sizes, best value if you want the whole system
- Mega 1200 ($184) — same powerful base, but comes with just the 1000mL vessel; good if you only need one size
- Mighty 850 ($149) — a more compact motor at 850 watts; great if counter space or budget is tighter but you still want the Beast quality
- Go Cordless ($114) – great for those who need portability.
For me, the Plus bundle was the obvious choice because of those three vessel sizes. But if you’re a solo blender and don’t need the variety, the base Mega 1200 saves you $35.
